A Proper Installation Prevents Decades of Problems
Most dryer vent problems trace back to the original installation. Builders rushing through construction often use the cheapest materials, take shortcuts with routing, and leave installations that barely meet code — if they meet it at all. A properly designed and installed vent system runs cooler, dries faster, uses less energy, and lasts 20+ years without issues. A poorly installed one creates a lifetime of slow drying, high energy bills, and fire risk. If you're building new, renovating, or relocating a dryer, getting the installation right the first time is the single best investment you can make in your laundry setup.
How it works
Every step is designed for thoroughness, transparency, and your peace of mind.
Site Assessment & Design
We visit your home to assess the dryer location, measure distances, identify the optimal exterior exit point, and design the vent route. We consider airflow efficiency, code requirements, and aesthetics.
Material Selection
All installations use rigid aluminum or galvanized steel pipe with smooth interior walls. We select the right diameter, fittings, and exterior hood for your specific installation.
Wall/Floor Penetration
We cut precise openings through exterior walls, rim joists, or roofing as needed. All penetrations are properly sealed and flashed to prevent water intrusion.
Vent Run Installation
Pipe is installed with proper slope (1/4" per foot toward exterior), secured with code-approved strapping, and connected with aluminum tape or clamps at every joint. No screws inside the duct — they catch lint.
Exterior Hood & Finishing
We install a quality exterior hood with a pest-proof damper, seal around the penetration, and match exterior finishing. The result is clean and weatherproof.
Booster Fan (if required)
Runs exceeding 25 equivalent feet get an inline booster fan with an automatic pressure switch. We wire it to activate whenever your dryer runs — no manual switches to forget.
Testing & Documentation
We connect your dryer, test airflow at the exterior, run a full drying cycle, and verify everything operates correctly. You receive installation documentation for your records, warranty, and any permit requirements.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about new installation.
How long does a full installation take?
Most installations are completed in 3-5 hours, including wall penetration, pipe routing, exterior finishing, and testing. Complex installations (multiple floors, long runs) may require a full day.
Do I need a building permit?
In Calgary, minor vent installations typically don't require permits. However, if the work involves structural modifications, new exterior penetrations in certain building types, or is part of a larger renovation with a permit, the vent work should be included. We'll advise you for your specific situation.
What type of pipe do you install?
Rigid aluminum or galvanized steel, always. Never flex duct except for the short (max 8 feet) transition piece directly behind the dryer. Rigid pipe has smooth interior walls that resist lint buildup and last decades.
Can you install through a brick or concrete wall?
Yes. We have core drilling equipment for masonry walls. The penetration is properly sealed and finished to maintain the wall's integrity and appearance.
Why no screws inside the duct?
Sheet metal screws protruding inside the duct catch lint fibers, creating buildup points that negate the benefit of smooth-wall rigid pipe. We use aluminum tape and clamps instead — it's code-required and significantly reduces lint accumulation.
What's covered under the 5-year warranty?
All materials and workmanship. This includes pipe connections, exterior hood, booster fan if installed, and any components we supply. If anything we installed fails due to materials or workmanship, we repair or replace it at no cost.
Can you design the vent route before I finalize my renovation plans?
Absolutely. We recommend consulting us during the planning phase. The dryer location relative to exterior walls significantly affects installation cost and efficiency. A 10-foot straight run costs much less than a 40-foot run with multiple bends.
