A Damaged Vent Is Worse Than a Dirty One
A clogged vent is dangerous. A damaged vent is an active hazard. Crushed flex pipe behind the dryer, disconnected joints in the wall, deteriorated foil tape, or improperly installed runs that violate building code — these issues don't just restrict airflow, they leak hot, lint-laden exhaust into your walls, attic, or crawlspace. Many "new" homes in Calgary have vent installations that were done quickly during construction and don't meet manufacturer specifications or Alberta building code. If your vent was installed with vinyl flex pipe, has more than two 90-degree bends, or runs over 25 feet without a booster fan, it needs to be fixed — not just cleaned.
How it works
Every step is designed for thoroughness, transparency, and your peace of mind.
Diagnostic Inspection
We run a camera through the entire vent system to identify the exact problem — crushed pipe, disconnected joints, improper materials, or routing issues. We also measure airflow to quantify the restriction.
Repair Plan & Quote
Based on the inspection, we explain what's wrong, show you the camera footage, and provide a detailed quote. No work begins until you approve the plan and price.
Material Preparation
We use only code-compliant materials: rigid aluminum or galvanized steel pipe, UL-listed connectors, and approved sealants. We carry standard materials on our truck for same-day completion.
Repair or Replacement
We remove damaged sections and install new pipe, properly secured and sealed at every joint. If the entire run needs replacement, we reroute for optimal airflow within code limits.
Booster Fan Installation (if needed)
Vent runs over 25 equivalent feet require a booster fan by code. We install inline booster fans with automatic pressure switches that activate when the dryer runs.
Post-Repair Verification
We run the camera again, measure airflow, and test dryer operation to confirm the repair resolved the issue. You receive before/after documentation and a 1-year workmanship warranty.
Why this service matters
Eliminate Active Hazards
Disconnected joints and crushed pipe leak hot exhaust into walls. A proper repair eliminates fire and mold risk at the source.
Meet Alberta Building Code
All repairs use code-compliant materials and techniques. Important for insurance coverage, home sales, and inspections.
Rigid Metal Pipe Upgrades
We replace flexible foil or vinyl duct with rigid aluminum or galvanized steel — the gold standard for safety and airflow.
Same-Day Completion
Most repairs are completed in a single visit. We carry standard materials on our truck so you're not waiting for parts.
Proper Airflow Restoration
A repaired vent system delivers dramatically better airflow than a cleaned but still-damaged one. Expect a noticeable difference in drying performance.
1-Year Warranty
All repair work is backed by a 1-year workmanship warranty. If anything fails that we installed, we fix it at no charge.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about vent repair.
How do I know if I need repair vs. just cleaning?
If cleaning was done recently and your dryer still takes forever, the vent likely has a structural problem — crushed pipe, disconnected joint, or improper routing. We offer a $75 inspection that will tell you definitively whether it's a cleaning or repair issue.
Why is foil flex duct a problem?
Foil flex duct has ridged interior walls that trap lint, sag over time, and crush easily. It's no longer permitted by Alberta building code for new installations. Rigid metal pipe has smooth walls, maintains shape, and lasts decades.
What does "equivalent feet" mean for vent length?
Each 90-degree bend adds approximately 5 equivalent feet to your vent run. So a 15-foot vent with three 90-degree bends equals 30 equivalent feet — which exceeds the 25-foot code maximum and requires a booster fan.
Can you reroute my vent to a different exit point?
Yes. During renovations or dryer relocations, we can design and install a new vent route to the closest exterior wall or rooftop. We handle wall/floor penetrations and exterior finishing.
Do I need a permit for vent repair?
Minor repairs (replacing damaged sections, upgrading materials) typically don't require permits in Alberta. New installations through walls or roofs may require a building permit — we'll advise you and assist with the process if needed.
How long does a typical repair take?
Simple repairs (replacing a section of pipe, new exterior hood) take 1-2 hours. Full vent replacement or rerouting takes 3-5 hours. Most jobs are completed same-day.
What's included in the 1-year warranty?
Our warranty covers all materials and workmanship. If any connection we made separates, any pipe we installed develops a problem, or any component we installed fails, we repair or replace it at no charge.
